145 days to go

When you walk a long way on your own you have a few hours to think. On recent long walks I have got to thinking that walking 100,000km sounds like a really cool idea;-) Easier than 100km in just over a day! Admittedly, it would take about a decade. Or six months a year for twenty-five years if my maths is right. Doable. Where could 100,000km take you? Any suggestions? I’ll think about it on next week’s walks, I’m sure!

Last week’s walks:
7.1km at Cornwallis
34.6km from home to Britomart via Mt Albert and Sandringham, then back via Ponsonby and Pt Chevalier
13.9km Home to Arataki and back

Total: 55.6km

  1. …wow, what an idea! yeah, think about it on this weeks walk and let us know… of course it can be done. Souds in fact like a very cool idea. I just don’t know if I could make up a plan for 25 years in advance – I would probably just go for 10.000 km (wimp)
But with 100.000 km you could walk all around the world, walking each continent the longest way possible (should be about 50.000km?!), the silk routes…รคh…let me think
Bon Courage pour toi et ton prochain projet! (Gregory also wanted to do this Oxfam Trailwalker, but his goup did not collect enough money in advance, to be allowed to participate…)

    Big HUG

  2. Interesting idea. The circumference of Earth at the equator is about 24,902 miles (40,075 km), so you could walk around the earth about 2.5 times longitudinally. Or, from pole-to-pole โ€” the “meridional circumference” โ€” Earth is 40,008 km around. So, you could basically walk around the earth 2.5 times (once you perfect your walking on water skills) ๐Ÿ˜‰
